Raleigh police arrest man suspected of stabbing another to death last month

Raleigh police say they’ve arrested a man they think stabbed another at a shopping center in North Raleigh last month.

The victim, 32-year-old Aaron Malik Heath, was found just after 6 a.m. on June 20 at 3132 Calvary Drive, just off Capital Boulevard, according to police. Heath died at a hospital three days later.

Police say they’ve arrested 37-year-old Ernesto Torres-Torres and charged him with three crimes related to the stabbing: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; carrying a concealed weapon, and misdemeanor larceny.

Torres-Torres has not been charged with Heath’s death, but a police spokesman said Thursday that additional charges are possible.

Police have not released details about the incident or said whether Heath and Torres-Torres knew each other.

Nearly two weeks after the stabbing, police asked for the public’s help finding Torres-Torres. They released a photo of him with a full head of hair and a separate photo of a tattoo on his arm.

Police say they received an anonymous tip about his whereabouts and that Torres-Torres was arrested without trouble. He had close-cropped hair when he was arrested.
